Best Day-Use Hot Springs in Hida Takayama!: Top 2 Recommended Onsens

When traveling, many people want to enjoy the local hot springs, don’t they?

Around Hida Takayama, there are famous hot spring towns like Hirayu and Gero, but both are about an hour’s drive away, which can be a bit inconvenient.

But don’t worry! There are two fantastic day-use hot springs right in the heart of Hida Takayama.

In this blog, I’ll share some insider tips that only locals know about. Enjoy!

Author:

1. Takayama Green Hotel Hida Takayama Onsen

The first recommendation is “Takayama Green Hotel Hida Takayama Onsen.”

The appeal of this hot spring is its excellent accessibility, located just a 7-8 minute walk from JR Takayama Station!

At “Takayama Green Hotel Hida Takayama Onsen,” you can enjoy two different baths depending on the day and time.

“Honjin Large Bath” offers a spacious bathing area where you can unwind and enjoy a leisurely soak.

On the other hand, “Tenryo no Yu ~ Fuga ~” provides a relaxing atmosphere where you can unwind in a serene setting.

If you’re looking for a hot spring within walking distance in the city, “Takayama Green Hotel Hida Takayama Onsen” is highly recommended.

Its convenient location allows you to easily drop by between sightseeing activities, making it perfect for relieving travel fatigue. Additionally, being a hotel-based onsen, you can use the facilities with peace of mind.

2. Hida Takayama Hotel Associa Takayama Resort

The next hot spring I want to introduce is at the “Hida Takayama Hotel Associa Takayama Resort.”

Although it takes a bit of effort to get there, it’s well worth it for the breathtaking views!

From the outdoor baths at the “Hotel Associa Takayama Resort,” you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Northern Alps. Especially on clear days, the beauty of the mountains is truly remarkable.

There are two baths: “”TEN NO YU” on the 7th floor-

and “BOU NO YU” on the 5th floor. The men’s and women’s baths switch daily, but both offer almost the same spectacular view, so you don’t have to worry about which one to enter.

Since this hot spring is located on a hill, it’s difficult to reach on foot. Therefore, it’s best to use the free shuttle bus that runs from JR Takayama Station every hour. For more details, please check here.
